On 49 acres in Hogan Park, the Sibley Nature Center offers its visitors a chance
to experience the history and wonders of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. Through
a wide range of educational programs and exhibitions, the Nature Center celebrates
the history and natural beauty of the southern Llano Estacado. Located in Midland,
the Center houses activity rooms and several libraries featuring collections of
insects, bones, birds, mounted animals, rocks, and plants of the region’s eight
major habitats. Libraries include the Frances Williams Memorial Bird Library, the
Midland Archaeological Society library, as well as a small Hispanic cultural and
West Texas Historical library. The Center also offers a 70-seat auditorium where
nature societies and educational groups from across the region present a variety
of programs to visitors throughout the year. Visit the Sibley Nature Center website
(www.sibleynaturecenter.org) to see a list of upcoming programs and events. Admission
is free, while programs are fee-based per person. Donations are happily accepted.
